Rev. Paul J. Bolton, 85, a Senior Priest of the Diocese of Providence, died Friday, September 23, 2022. Visitation will be in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, on Tuesday, October 4, from 4 - 7 p.m., followed by a Mass for Vocations at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of Fr. Bolton's soul will commence at 10 am on Wednesday, October 5, in St. Mark Church, Jamestown. Burial will follow at St. Mark's Cemetery, Jamestown.

Bishop Thomas J. Tobin gathered with the priest faculty of the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence and the 13 seminarians currently enrolled in this year’s class, including six from the diocese, as OLP marked the opening of the 2022-2023 academic year. Bishop Tobin celebrated Mass in the seminary’s chapel before joining the seminarians for dinner.

Bishop Tobin gives us something to think about: What is there in your life that needs to be healed?

Perhaps prompted by the beginning of a new school year, recently I’ve been remembering my elementary school days, and some of the routines we had and the things we learned. And one of them was the art of diagramming sentences.

On Sept. 1, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin marked Bishop Robert C. Evans’ 75th birthday by hosting a gathering for cake in his chancery office. During the party, Bishop Tobin offered his birthday wishes and prayers for Bishop Evans, thanking him for his many years of service to the Diocese of Providence.
