In the last election abortion was on the ballot in several states. In many cases pro-life legislation failed to pass. For example, in Kentucky, which consistently votes Republican, an amendment to the U.S. Constitution denying the right to abortion in all cases failed to pass. Polling suggests that many Americans agree with having some restrictions on abortion, but not outright banning it.
One of the endearing qualities of Catholics is that we have great reverence and affection for our loved ones who have died. This is true throughout the year but especially in November, the month devoted to the faithful departed.
PROVIDENCE — St. Sebastian Parish welcomed its new pastor, Father Edward Sousa on Sunday, Oct. 16. Auxiliary Bishop Robert C. Evans celebrated Holy Mass at the church and officially installed Father Sousa as pastor.
“Simply put: No priest, no Eucharist,” said Father Christopher Murphy, the rector of Our Lady of Providence Seminary. “Christ established the priesthood and the Eucharist at the same time on Holy Thursday; they are inextricably linked.”
Something to think about: Parents whose children have abandoned the faith shouldn’t blame themselves, but rather just continue to give good example and pray patiently for the wandering sheep of their family. In the end, it’s all in God’s hands.
On November 1st, and throughout the Month of November, the Catholic Church honors all the saints – our brothers and sisters who have traveled the road we now traverse and have finally received their reward in the Kingdom of Heaven...
