Rev. (Czeslaw) Leon Kachel, 90, a Senior Priest of the Diocese of Providence and retired chaplain of Saint Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island, Providence (Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and the former Saint Joseph Hospital) died Sunday, September 5, 2021. Visitation will be on Friday, September 10, from 9am – 9:45am in St. Adalbert Church, 866 Atwells Avenue, Providence. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of Father’s soul will be offered on Friday, September 10, at 10am at St. Adalbert Church. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

Our diocesan celebration begins on the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady, with a Night to Honor Mary, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Join Bishop Thomas J. Tobin as he leads the diocese in a night of Marian devotion through prayer, readings from Sacred Scripture, the Holy Rosary, and a litany and procession. We hope you can join us! A small reception to follow. Security will be provided. Beginning September 8, 2021, the Diocese of Providence will celebrate the sesquicentennial of its foundation through a series of events running through June 2022.
