The Church … is alive with the love enkindled by the Spirit of Christ. This love does not simply offer people material help, but refreshment and care for their souls… - Pope Benedict XVI, De Caritus, #28
The Stewardship & Development Office of the Diocese of Providence manages and conducts: FACE of R.I., Parish Stewardship, the Catholic Charity Appeal, the Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island and the Anchor of Hope Fund.
The office also provides service to parishes in the areas of capital campaign due diligence preparation, advice and counsel regarding the hiring of fund-raising counsel, parish capital campaign pledge redemption and assistance to Catholic school principals and development officers for independent development audits, staff training and capital campaign oversight.
The Catholic Charity Appeal is the second oldest diocesan annual appeal in the United States supporting 39 charitable ministries and programs of the Diocese of Providence that provide social, educational and spiritual support to those in need. The services offered by these ministries assist more than 200,000 Rhode Islanders each year regardless of race, creed, or background.
The Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island serves as the endowment arm of the diocese and its parishes, agencies and schools. With more than $70 million in assets and more than 300 endowed funds, the Foundation raises, manages and distributes these assets to the beneficiaries identified by the donors, as required by law.
The Anchor of Hope Fund provides need-based financial assistance awards to students attending Catholic schools in the Diocese of Providence. Since its inception more than $2.6 million has been raised for this purpose.
